GE Money claims can't find account

We are pretty sure we had PPI with a mortgage that was through first national mortgage company, ie GE Money. They have written back saying they can't locate account. I only have mortgage account number. That should be enough shouldn't it???

Also, most First National mortgages were sold through mortgages brokers, so any complaint about the sale of PPI needs to go to the seller.0 -
It was through a broker who is no longer trading. It was paid off 8 years ago0
