    Yay!!!! Love getting organised!!!!!

main way I try to keep to keep on top of christmas & birthdays is that I have a savings pot with Barclays that I put something into each month, even if it's just a fiver or a tenner but it helps.

How do I actually subscribe to a thread?

    Main presents this year:-
    - hubby
    - dad
    - brother
    - mum-in-law
    - father-in-law
    - sister-in-law
    - brother-in-law
    - nephew
    - brothers long term girlfriend
    - work secret santa
    - one set of neighbours (we are so lucky to have this kind of couple next door.....)

Hubby will be able to plan for christmas earlier this year, oipefully from September.

Wrapping paper, tags & cards already bought from about 2 / 3 years ago - got amazing deal in the sales....shd have enough for next couple of years too!!!

Plan to make Christmas cake this year........

At least this making me starting to think about getting dates in diaries to plan......
    :j I feel I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe :j

  • FUDDLE when the girls were younger we used to make wrapping paper. I made christmas tree 'potato cuts' and then they had red and green poster paint and printed christmas trees on pieces of ordinary newspaper, kept them busy for hours and as we had the paper already it was at the cost of 1 potato and a little bit of paint. You can add a star and baubles after the first paint has dried if you are prepared to sacrifice another potato for the 'cuts' and have some gold or silver paint.
  • Ahhhh nothing better than a Christmas natter. Last years xmas was a bit of a struggle only for the 3 of us to be struck down with that winter bug on the day lol I couldn't lift my head of the pillow and had to cook xmas lunch for my mam and aunty as well. This year I'm getting prepared a bit early.

I've started to collect all my free samples to fill out stockings and hampers and doing a bit of couponing for a few foodie gifts. Ive signed up to a lot of survey sites so I can exchange my points for amazon vouchers etc. This year is definitely going to be a mse xmas.

Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j

Mrschristmas, our favourite films include...ET, Goonies, Beethoven, batteries not included, neverending story, the navigator, labyrinth, willow.

Fuddle, I got my two girls a dolly bobbin each last year, they came with little skeins of different coloured wools and instructions for French knitting. they loved them.
    freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:
  • How lovely, a proper beautiful day in May, and can start thinking about all those gorgeous twinkly nights to come :j

MrsChristmas - its quite difficult to get hold of, but The box of delights is a brilliant christmassy drama. Was on kids TV in the 80's, I love it. one of my pre-xmas treats is to snuggle up and watch it.
Another classic is the ever brilliant Muppet Christmas Carol.

I started a stash a couple of months ago when I found tiny xmas puddings reduced in co-*p to 20p a pop. DH thinks I'm barmy, but they're good until 2014.

Have been thinking of a great crochet project for a couple of years for his pressie. This year might actually be the one I do it!

I love fuddle's gifts - I wish I could do some of these things!!!

I am trying to save £2 coins although these are like hen's teeth at the mo.

I would love to make a fruit cake but never know when to start this and I'm not sure if it is MSE as I don't drink shorts so would have to buy the brandy - although I might start drinking it eh!

I really want a fire place opening up - OH really doesn't as it equates to mess - but it's something that really says Christmas to me.

Christmas contentment is just sitting by the tree with the lights on and everyone being safe.

The food shop prior is the nightmare and I've gone without or gone with frozen on some "essentials" to avoid the chaos of it all.
