I lurk on these forums all the time, and and always check here before buying! I found some wholesaler links posted on here and ended up starting a business. So im certainly greatful to this forum for that!
However argos clearance...argh is all i can say. The pallets usually go for very high prices. I managed to get one last week - apparantly B+ stock, and looked fine at a quick visual inspection, but got it home and when you take a closer look - more like b-. Will seriously impact my sales. Ive emailed and written to complain that the items are not as described, but not sure i can get my money back. Ill have to do alot of work to sell this just to break even.
So just a word of warning to others to make sure you know exactly what you get with these 'graded' items! Im personally going back to buying untested returns as its less outlay - plus not going back to Argos Clearance again!

Hi Michelle, my husband and I are trying to get into this line of business and we have been seriously considering the Argos site, glad I saw this thread and your warning! Is there a different direction we should be looking at as we can only find Argos that sell pallets directly and we have had bad experience with other auction sites - many thanks0 -
http://www.wholesaledirect24.com/products/adult-footwear/at-12-of-the-catalogue-value/adult-footwear-jd59cp
This the website for grattan/freemans clothing/bedding wholesale, its direct end of line from them.
There is also a website that sells pallets of household / toys/ clothing something like Marthill i'll see if i can find it.
Lol it is marthill http://www.marthill.co.uk/
I did consider using both above when I was selling on ebay but found diff source so cant comment on them personally.0 -

A word of warning - I probably wouldn't consider getting into selling on Grattan / Freemans stock from the wholesaler mentined (not because it's a bad wholesaler) because as of next season (AW09) all fashion stock is going to be purchased from Germany, so it's likely this method of distribution / wholesale purchase will disappear!0 -

Thats interesting news. I didnt bother with them as a lot of the stock will be unbranded or own brand which doesnt tend to sell well on ebay but I have seen a market stall that raked it in selling kays surplus stock but that was a few years ago.0 -
Thanks for the heads up and links posted here ,does anyone know a outlet for shoes.
TIA

hi,
what are you thinking of selling? my main sources have all come from this forum, but i often read thewholesaler forums also. The Trader magazine is a good starting point also for all areas. i use alot of untested returns pallets but theres no predictable flow to it so my stock ends up changing alot.
dont know of any other direct source for a good enough price - would love any tips myself!
my husband was talking to argos clearance about the situation today and awaiting a callback from someome with their answer so im keeing my fingers crossed we can return. wont go back after this though as were still down the cost of the van etc. you live and learn i suppose!

argos pallets - most off the stuff is in bad condition. A grade is costing above trade sometimes
grattan/otto group - you will make 1-2 pound per garment on most things if you are lucky on ebay
Its very hard too get good lines. If you start buying/spending 2000 plus at a time it opens up new areas.
I have been selling on ebay for 8 years computer items. Its not easy.
Some stock purchases can be too good too be true and some are not worth the money.
many would be ebayers are not willing too put in the time/effort.
Anyone out there that has a garage full of space i have stock here that will turn 1000% profit. for relativly small outlay(£400-£600). but hey sounds too good too be true. Especially if you do not want too put in the work.
Before you ask i just have not got the time.(and sometimes that line is true, if you have heard it spun before)0 -
http://www.gemwholesale.co.uk/main.html Is a good place to get a pallet or two of catalogue returns. You can go to their warehouse and view before you buy if you like too.

i have bought a 7.5ton lorry full of xcat rutuns from gemwholesale ...supposedly unsorted returns.
not impressed. Thats the trouble many off these sources cherry pick or are third party suppliers0 -
Justjohn - I'm intrigued by what you have in your garage.............1000% return! I would be obliged if you could elaborate as I may well be interested. Thanks, LIFTOFF.0
