Random I know, but might be travelling back from Birmingham or royal leamington spa Monday morning and need to be back in Hertfordshire by 11am, what the southbound traffic like on a Monday if I leave there about 9am, giving me 2hrs journey time?
Cheers

I don't know, but you can use Google Maps to take a look.
Click on Traffic on the drop-down menu in the top right of the map window, and as well as live, you can select day and time.
I don't know if it's a historical average, or just the most recent, but I'd guess the latter is easier to program.0 -
Depending on where in Herts wouldn't the M40 be easier or more direct?
Either way unless there's a serious accident on one of the routes then your journey times are fine if you leave at 9ish, if you click on Google maps traffic as suggested by Redux before leaving you can choose whichever route is running clear, obvously keep 'TP' option on your car radio switched on during the journey.
Leamington you are straight on the M40 so probably 20 minutes shorter travel time than B'ham.0 -
Gilbert, am heading back into Hertford, last time I came down the M1 got off at St Albans then across through Hatfield along the A414.... Is there a more direct route?
Thanks people0 -
Ah Hertford, i did wonder if it was South Herts around Watford/Ricky area, not such an easy access from M40 then, unless the M1 has problems, and since the M1 roadworks between jcts 13 and 10 are now all finished it all flows quite well.
I daresay you come off at jct 8 Hemel turn off, down the old M10 and scoot along the bottom of St Albans along the North Orbital Route via Hatfield.
Thats the route i would be doing, probably what you do now.
Its probably as quick from Leamington to run down the M40 then M25 then A10 up into Hertford, but you just never know what the state of play on the M25 will be, your M1 route does allow more alternatives to cut across if problems.0 -
9am can be pretty clear, 6.30am-9am can be a nightmare.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

As per padded John avoid M1 southbound between 0630 and 0900. From J18 down to J9 or even J8 it will be max 50mph interspersed with stop/start traffic.
Took me 1 hour to do J15a to J14 last Monday!EX-DFW, NOW AN MFW!! O/S Mortgage = £71004 on 12/01/13 Overpaid 2013 = £1000
Balance now = £69155
MFD at start = 30/11/2033 now 31/03/2033
