MS Word and Excel - Forms

Hi

I am trying to create a document so that when a user opens it there is a box that pops up asking them to fill in certain information.

This data then would be transposed into a contract / document

Is this possible using word or excel 2010?

Start by searching for "forms" in Word help.

It's not as easy as you think, but it is possible.
What you would probably need is a userform in Excel which will give you the various fields you need (you can add in mandatory fields, eror checking, etc at this point).
This data would then be put onto a spreadsheet using one row per record.
I'm going to make a big assumption here (as I've never tried it) and say that mail-merge in word is probably what you'll need to do the rest.
