Difference between 5th and 6th generation Ipod video?!

I want to buy an ipod video (80gb)... I see that on Amazon they're selling a 5th generation ones. However on ebay people are selling 5.5/6th generation ones which are apparentely newer/better??

Does anyone know what the difference between them is?! I don't really want to buy from ebay, however if the ebay ones are more up to date I think I'd rather buy them -- I can't seem to find any online shops that sell 6th generation ones!

    Hi

The latest version of the Ipod is the 80GB 5th generation.

When the 5th generation first came out it had 60GB (I have that one)
Then Apple released an updated version of the 5th late last year that had 80GB and a few small tweaks like a brighter screen.

Some people took to unofficially calling this 80GB version of the 5th "5.5", or even trying to get away with calling it the "6th" on ebay, but as far as I know they are all officially just called 5th generation by Apple.

So you're just looking for a 5th generation. You'll know it's the latest version because it has 80GB while the earlier only had 60.

^Thank you for replying :) Seems strange that sellers on ebay are calling them 6th generation... I thought it might be because they're from the USA (where they usually release things earlier than in the UK), but I guess not!

Nah, no 6th yet. Everyone was expecting a 6th last year, but only the Iphone was announced.

I think half the reason Apple enthusiasts started calling the 80 gig Ipod "5.5" was to kid themselves that it's a new Ipod because they can't wait :rotfl:
