Toshiba

Bought a Toshiba DVD a while back (good reviews and all the whistles and bells). Bought it through Amazon. After 8 months sound didnt work, so I contacted Toshiba customer services thinking I had messed up the setup somehow. Anyway the lady on the phone went through steps to check the setup. Still no joy, so she said its obviously faulty, we can get you a replacement tomorrow, although it would be the newer improved version. I was stunned to say the least. I thought I would have to return the player myself! Although it wasnt delivered next day, it was the following morning (8 AM, dont these people sleep ;D). So needless to say when I bought a DVD player for my parents it was a Toshiba. I have also bought a combi TV/Video also a Toshiba. Excellent backup and good quality products. What more do you want?

Bought a big Toshiba TV a few years ago from Robertsons. No end of trouble with it, kept being replaced. Wrote to Robertsons; not interested. Wrote to Toshiba, said i was a little disappointed in a 'premium' brand. Toshiba write back, say they're *very* sorry, not what i should expect etc; have a 3 year warranty on us. (£400 at Robertsons). Touch wood...............!Val0

The best service I've ever received was from Toshiba and I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. I had problems with a TV I bought from a web site but got tremendous attention from Toshiba customer service.0 -
My 28" Toshiba TV bought back in 1995 still going strong as ever - thought it was broke a few weeks back though - turns out i knocked a switch round the back turning the internal speakers off. Shame I only found out after taking it out to make room for a new one :-/ Still makes a nice bedroom TV.
New TV is also a Toshiba (nice 42" Widescreen RP one) - it's got a lot to live up to.Alex Jones0 -
...however I'd steer clear of Toshiba VCR's from my personal experience - some models seem to break when you disconnect their power supply. Powercut and the front panel refuses to operate and playback is totally screwed.
And after only a year and a half...
Fixing it involves a Toshiba Engineer (hardly very MSE) or taking the cover off, unclipping the front panel off and fiddling with engineer menus (where would we be without the internet?)
Hopefully it'll now last until I can afford a shiny new DVD Recorder (sub-£80 soon hopefully)Alex Jones0
