Fri 17th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. :D

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. :T

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

    Good morning everyone

I'm going to start the day like a hippy and spread the dodgy hugs for everyone
    :heart2: :grouphug: :heart2: :grouphug: :heart2: :grouphug: :heart2: :grouphug: :heart2:

But seriously, I hope everyone is feeling better today, both physically and in themselves.

Had a chat with my friend last night and I have a plan re OH and the division of monies so I just need to wait for a time when he is available and willing to chat.

Annoyingly had to charge phone at home last night as it ran out while I was talking to said friend. was hoping to do it in work today.

Today will not be a nsd, we are having a charity thing at lunchtime at work but it's for a cause close to our hearts at the moment so I don't mind.

    Today then:

    Check online banking

Check phone bill and add to spreadsheet - shock horror, the phone company actually moved the dd date correctly!

B/D from stores (Swedish meatball sandwiches for charity lunch with virgin cocktails - horrific concept if ever there was one )

    Won't wash hair today

Check seedlings (now my little furry bundle babies are gone, the seedlings are all I have left :rotfl:)

Erm, think that's it really. Damn am I that boring?

    Have a good one xx

Good morning everyone and thanks to carrie for starting us off. I'm up bright and early as I'm chicken nursing! Eileen is in a box in the utility room and I was surprised to see her still alive this morning. Hopefully a little TLC today and she can go back out with the others. :)

It's my day off today so I'm going to make the most of the sunshine and spend the morning with a friend in town. I'm hoping it won't cost too much in car parking or refreshment money!

    So listy so far:
    • Breakfast from stores
    • Checked banking
    • Checked for surveys
    • Fed and watered chickens
    • Washing up done on Economy 7
    And yet to come:
    • More treatment for the poorly chicken
    • Find a parking place out of town then walk
    • Make a coffee last all morning
    • Take a packed lunch to eat in the park
    • Collect DGD from school
    • Dinner from DD's stores
    • Give DS3 a lift tonight saving a second trip tomorrow
That's me today. Have a good one folks!

    Morning everyone.

Well yesterday wasn't a good day. It was finally confirmed that I will be made redundant at the end of the month. It's not really a surprise in the sense that I've actually spent over three years on notice of redundancy, but until now I've always been offered short term extensions to the notice period and, to be honest, I was expecting another one this time, as the workload hasn't gone away (in fact if anything its greater than it's ever been), so somebody will still have to do it, and I've had to work most Bank Holidays and roughly one weekend in 3 just to keep on top of it.

I'm more annoyed at the way it's been done to be honest. Nobody has been talking to me about the future plans, and when I eventually e-mailed the project director and asked for just a 15 minute chat to discuss the future, I just got an e-mail back 5 days later confirming that I will be leaving.

Been in the industry since leaving school 24 years ago, and with this particular company for 14 years. Never had a day out of work in my life, so these are scary times :(

No work for me today, so a day at home as still carless!

Will scour the house and find stuff to sell, not sure how much there is left

It will be a tough day as I've not got much food in and I refuse to pay double at our local shop, so will have to be inventive for lunch!

    Morning all,

Karb so sorry to hear your news, hope you manage to find something else.

Well today is a getting things done day. I have been up since 6.30 doing paperwork etc as want to get as much as possible done today.

    Today:

    - B/L/D from stores. OH out this evening so I will have a 50p dinner.
    - Girls round this evening so will need to go out and get some wine but going to get the best deal. I need to do a few bits of nibbles and noticed that Mr T does little bags of poppadoms for 20p so shall get two bags of them and bowl up some mango chutney and lime pickle that is in the fridge. I will also get a bag of basics tortillas and salsa so think I can do nibbles for under £2.50 so all round a much cheaper night that going to town for an evening.
    - Doing my swagbucks, done one poll, need to do adpoints.
    - Going to iron at least 10 items and put washing on line
    - Got my college course interview date yesterday so need to do some swatting in case they ask me too many questions.
    - Get all my paperwork out of the way
    - Done half an hour of extra work already so that is an extra £5 whilst sitting eating my breakfast
    - Clean out fridge and do a check for next week.
    - Tiday house for tonight and so hopefully I can have a chilled relaxed day tomorrow with OH
    - Pop into town and get DM rest of birthday present with my vouchers.

Right alot to do so better get on

    2. Read newspaper online.
    3. Check bank accounts. Done
    4. Sort out my finances. Huge job. Done, in the garden, with the laptop. :)
    5. Read library books. Done
    6. Enter some competitions.
    7. Plant out radishes. Done
