RBS Loan serious advice needed

Hi Everyone

I have a current account with RBS also a saving account and ISA, on March 9th I applied for a loan for £5000 for a used car, I was accepted in principle and when the paper work arrived I signed, dated an returned it with the documentation they had asked for, after several days I had not heard anything I phoned then and was told they hadn't made a decision it was with the underwriters but I had passed all the banks checks and the documents I sent were all in order, so once again I waited which took me into the following week this time I was told we can't find the documents can you resend them so I did this waited and the next time I phoned I was told sorry the 28 days have expired would you mind reapplying, I explained I wanted the money to buy my daughter a used car for her 18th which was on 8th April they said not to worry there's still time, so I reapplied same thing accepted in principle received forms signed dated returned with documents required by the bank, few days later I got a txt to phone so I did I was asked what the loan was for as the underwriter was unsure so I told him he said that's everything the loan should be in your account 48hrs by this time it was 2nd April, so on the 4th when still the money wasn't in my account I phoned this time I was told nope it's not gone in not sure why do you want put through to our complaints I said yes, he put me through to a woman who made me explain everything from the beginning she said oh dear we don't have long to get this sorted if your daughters birthday is on the 8th is it possible for you to get to a branch today, I said yes she said great lets do that just explain to them and they can look on system for the notes added, so I went into my branch explained to the woman who took my debit card put in machine had a look and said I have no idea what's going on there's no notes on here she asked for the phone number I was calling and went away came back half hour later said there's been a massive error and the complaints dept will phone you at your home in an hour, so I went home the woman phoned and said sorry but someone had deleted your application off the system we have no idea why, I was seeing red by this time but trying to stay calm asking how this could happen but she didn't have an answer, she suggested she remove the searches from my credit file an I apply again I told her it would be to late for my daughters birthday she asked has she chosen a car I said yes and we put a deposit down because I was told the loan was approved and going into my account, once again I applied same thing paper work signed dated sent with everything again I was told approved be in account 48hrs waited waited waited nothing, phoned was told underwriter has issues with the date he thinks the 4 looks like a 6 he's resent the blue agreement everything else is fine just sign an return it but after 6 days it hadn't arrived I phoned was told so sorry not sure what happened I will resend it, I received it on the 1st May signed it an returned more waiting they got it on the 2nd I spoke to a guy he said it's a bank holiday so it probably won't be dealt with until the 7th May I said I was concerned about the 28 days expiring he said no it's fine there's lots of notes an we can see this has been going on quite a while so the underwriter has the authority to extend the 28 days, so on the 7th I phoned woman told me yes it's up an running and will be in tomorrow wed 8th May I asked if she was sure she said yes I can see the account has been opened, I was so relieved an happy I went told my daughter she would be able to go car shopping and would finally have her 18th birthday present from me she was over the moon, so you can imagine my surprise when the next day I checked and nothing , I phoned and was told sorry the application has expired it's more than 28 days I said no that can't be right the girl told me the account had been open to draw down the loan an it would be in today, he went away came back said I think you need to speak to complaints they will contact you within 7 days so more waiting and finally today 16th May they called went through everything I told him how angry an appalled I am being treated like this by the bank and that it's outrageous this has been going on since 9th March the errors the bank have made are shocking and that I was told 3 times that the account was up an running and the money would be in my account the next day and that he should listen to the recorded calls if he wanted verification on everything I told him, he said he would open the complaint and will call me back in 24hrs in meantime he wants me to think about what it is I want, so this is were I am stuck I am not use to this and have no idea what I should say and wondered if anyone could give me advice what to do next and what does he mean by what do I want I am more than confused any help and advice will be most welcome and so sorry for this long post but I thought if I shortened it you wouldn't get the full picture.....thank you :)

Unless you made your loan application in a single paragraph which totally confused the lender then they would appear to be incredibly incompetent.

Which begs the question, do you really want to tie yourself into a legal agreement with a company who have caused you so many problems for over two months without a resolution?

    Take your business elsewhere.

Did you actually read it all? I got through about 10 lines then gave up as it was hurting my eyes.

Based on the bit I did read - if the saga continued in the same vane, I would agree with this.

There are some really helpful people on this board.

But I'm afraid the overwhelming majority of them won't read that. The lack of sentences and paragraphs is giving me a headache.

Take a couple of minutes to edit you post. You'll find assistance reaches you then!

I read it all in fascination. Not a single full stop. Impressive.

OP, edit your post, add some sentences, paragraphs, maybe even bullet points. Make it easier to read.

Oh and go elsewhere for a loan. Make a formal complaint, in writing to the bank. You were asked what you want. Well I am guessing you want an apology and a small amount of compensation for your inconvenience. You'll get an apology and a probably £50 as a goodwill gesture.

OP - I would add up how many hours this as taken you to sort out after you completed the initial application. Add in the cost of your phone calls, fuel to get to the branch, parking costs etc. Use this as a starting point and then negotiate.

I would expect my out of pocket expenses to be refunded plus a small amount - £50 - or so as compensation.

People are helpful on here, but your post was very difficult to read because of the lack of punctuation and paragraphs!

Sweet Jesus. Though if you look at the time-stamp on the post, it all makes sense.

Was going to have a stab at a quick edit, but it's too difficult at this time in the morning!

OP, congratulations, you have won the prize for the most number of words written down without a single full stop or paragraph. You don't seriously expect anyone to wade through that lot without their head hurting, do you?
However, on the positive side it does seem to be spelt correctly.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Think it must be the longest sentence I have ever attempted to read. Did give up by about line 5 though.
