Motorbike Bangernomics

If I ever bought another bike, then I reckon it would be a 750/900 SS Ducati, I just love the sound and look of them, and they are a bit less extreme than the sports models.
If you're thinking about the 1970s ones with the round heads, you'll pay a lot for it. They are very 'collectable' these days.
Whenever I see one, I always think of the time my wife decided I was mad. We had filled the car at a petrol station, paid, and were about to set off when I saw a 900SS arrive. I didn't move while the guy filled it up and paid, and my wife wondered what the heck was going on. Then he started it up and rode away. Only then was I happy to start the car and leave. A big twin with Conti 'silencers'. Bliss. That was one nice thing about the V50 Guzzi it was low powered but lookers an felt " sporty" so you could thrash the tits off it and keep your license while feeling like a 1960s GP racer:rotfl:
This.
I have downsized from 1300 to 955, and now to a 660cc single, and I couldn't be happier. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
My commuter isn't quite bangernomics in the true sense, but still saved a heap of cash. I bought i Cat D sports tourer bike that needed fixing up (new fairings/front light assembly etc) I paid £2300 for it, £700 on fixing it up (and got a DVLA test done on it for piece of mind) and now i've got a bike you cant buy straight for under £5000. I used this bike last year for a nice trip round Europe, and regularly use it as a work commuter. Another plus is due to doing the rebuild myself, I've bonded with this machine alot more than my fun silly bike. I'm not contemplating selling it, and even if and when i do, i would imagine i will get the majority of the money i have put into it due to the pittance i picked it up for0

Not bangernomics, true, but great fun and very rewarding. Plus you have saved a decent bike from being scrapped or broken, and for that the world of motorcycling thanks you.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

I was surprised when I discovered bikes didnt need them, I'd have thought they would need an ID check more than a car would.
yeah i got a VIC test done, your right that it wasn't necessary, but due to the very nature of motorbikes not being the safest form of transportation in the world, i needed piece of mind that it wasn't going to fall apart after i had fixed it!0 -

I got my barn find for £85 on ebay and went to Norfolk to get it so cost £150 all in and the fan switch and temp sender are worth that, had lots of great parts from it, saved me a small fortune.
hope you get a good deal on it.:beer:0
