Kwikfit Aircon recharge
I went to kwikfit to get my gar recharged, went to use it a few days later and felt no different to when it is off. I took it back to kwik fit who said there must be a leak in the system, surely they must be checking for leaks before gassing.
Have I Lost £50 or can I go back and demand a refund for service not carried out properly?

I recently posted on here regarding KF aircon recharging. I can't do links, but if you search or go back over the threads for a few days you'll find it. It had loads of info on recharging and what they test for. From what I remember they do check for leaks. They did as ATS this week anyway!!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190

its common sense to check for a aircon leak but this can only be done when its gassed and pressurised to check for refridgerant leaking.
this is where it could get messy for you.
they agree to regass and find out if it is leaking, if it is then you should be asking question like why was this not found last time, you could not have checked it, but also, youll be faced with getting the leak repaired, now i would not trust quick fit to touch a spanner in a tool box, never mind put a spanner in a engine bay and take bits off, so they may offer to regass free aslong as you let them repair the aircon system, or give you a voucher code for a part of the cost if you take it away to be repaired and then go back to have a regass.
TBH. i would take it to a recomended indy garage, and have them look at it, a bit of pipe work or a seal maybe broken, and the indy would regass it properly and test the temp coming out the vents before you go.0 -
Ats took ages to regass mine as it is an 11 year old car and was completly empty.
It was so empty they were convinced it had a leak so took a long while checking it before a full regas.
1 year on still icey cold.
I find my local branch very good, maybe its because it is a small branch and they care about what they do.
Wouldnt go near any quackfit unless a dire emergency, and definatly not a big city branch.0 -
I thought Kwik-fit didn't charge if there was no difference, or perhaps that offer has ended?
Having said that, they should check for leaks properly - it is not allowed to vent refrigerant in to atmosphere. The proper check is to see if the aircon system is sealed is by seeing if it hold a vacuum - I'd suggest an independent garage or aircon specialist?0 -

From their website "Let Kwik Fit recharge your Air Con while-u-wait. We will replace and recharge lubricant and refrigerant levels in line with your manufacturer’s recommendation. If we cannot improve the coolest vent temperature from your car by more than 10% when measured in degrees Celsius - then you pay nothing at all.*"0 -
Kwik-Fit offer a “recharge or no charge” guarantee on air conditioning so if your regas has been unsuccessful then we will refund you the cost of the regas procedure. This can be managed through our customer service team, please confirm you would like this to go ahead.
Our standard procedures should recognise leaks but if this has not done so on this occasion, we would advise a revisit to our Kwik-Fit centre to get the leak investigated for you. We can then inform on repairs required. Thanks“Official Company Representative
