Help - getaroom.com not honouring hotel booking

I wonder if anyone can help with a problem. Trivago passed me through to getaroom.com and I booked, paid for, and had email confirmation of a room in Paris for the end of July. Yes it was very cheap, but it was advertised and appeared genuine, so off I went.
I have now had contact from getaroom.com to say that the hotel is refusing to honour the booking and that I need to either be rebooked at the correct rate(much more!) or to cancel and refund.
With the cost (travelling on a budget), issue in now being closer to the travel date (potentially less rooms available and some cheap deals maybe not being available now), and having chosen the hotel specifically for style, price as advertised by them, and location, can they do this?
They advertised something which I booked and paid for, and it seems totally wrong that they can do this.
Can they?! Any help appreciated!

3 nights for USD €142, which worked out about £35 p/night. Other rooms in the hotel were more - up to £100 p/night, but then I have seen this before for inside rooms, smaller rooms, etc etc.0 -
Booked through Trivago, via getaroom (Oz based I think) and French hotel,
(Paris hotel even worse)
In reality you could try to plead but I think you'd be better using the phone call money plus a full refund towards another room booking.0 -
it doesn't help you at all but I once saw a ridiculous deal on getaroom.com and googled them...reviews were awful - this sort of thing and many reviews of people turning up and hotel having no record of the booking, etc. so I steered well clear of them...given how many people turned up to find no room for them maybe in some ways getting out of it now might be a blessing, though it's not ideal by any stretch of the imagination.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

As above no help to you now but may be in the future, whenever I book through a 3rd party, I contact the hotel direct to make sure they have received my booking and that everything is in order0
