Payback into balance or cheque??

Hello,
I have a quick question regarding a win with a charge claim back. I received a letter to say I had won but as I have a current balance then the refund will be paid back into the balance.
Can I ask that it be sent as a cheque or do I have time to sneakily transfer my balance and force the companies hand to give me a cheque?
Thanks in advance

So you are hoping a card provider will refund you money you haven't actually ever paid???
Any cancellation of card charges will simply reduce your outstanding balance.0 -
If you are in arrears, defaults or had amounts written off, the lender will usually offset the redress against those.
If the payment for the PPI was made via a card, then the redress is frequently paid back into the card (like a retailer refund would be). You can ask the card provider to send you a cheque from the card if it puts you into credit.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If its a visa chargeback (your post is a bit woolly) then any refund must go back to the method of payment (ie the card/account). Standard anti money laundering.0 -
The money refunded will not send me back into credit, I will still have credit card debt. I thought it was worth a try, I guess I would be laughed at if I tried and asked them to send me a cheque, leaving my credit card n debt?0
