Having a bad day

I've just checked my eBay account and today someone has left me glowing comments' super seller one of the very best and a great item' and then left a neutral.

You really couldn't make this up could you!

On top of no Internet connection all day (thank you Virgin,) at least an hour of probably premium rate telephone calls trying to sort out Internet - I'm having a bad day.

  • Aww chin up soolin, some days just go all to pot ,am sure tomorrow will be so much better and productive and with less than 4 hours left of this day ,the Friday feeling will kick in soon!
NB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself"
  • Probably from someone who is fairly new to e-bay, they do not quite understand the effect it has on sellers when they get anything but "positive" feedback.

I have a bid in from a buyer and have had a look at previous feedback left for them - 8 NON PAYMENTS in 8 months, all negitive comments against Positive as sellers are not allowed to leave negitive.

And they still have 100% feedback. But we won't go there. !!!
  • Oh Oh Soolin don't get up too early tomorrow morning - just found out they have "scheduled maintenance" Friday morning 17th May between 7.00 and 9.00 am !!!!

    Hi, ebay newbie here.

Neutral with glowing seller feedback - does it not mean that buyer was not too happy or too upset with product and not seller?

That is the regular Friday morning maintenance, it happens every Friday and I am used to it

Only to someone who hasn't got a scoobie about how it works- this user is not new, he has my problem number of feedback 'in the teens'.He has left positives before , quite bland ones- like 'thank you' or 'cheers', he's also left two negs. Mine is the first neutral and with the most positive comments.

So just for my info. I have bought some thing correctly described, but quality was not described and to make it work I would need to make some adjustments to it (raincover for buggy - would need to add ties to hold it down in wind) the seller comunication, postage and delivery was all good.

How would I leave feedback then? Seller brilliant, item as described, arrived on time, reasonable postage.

I would feel I was misleading other buyers as I had tried the product and not 100% happy with it. I bought based on feedback to start with - which was not wrong but still did not mention quality or no ties.

Sorry soolin for taking away from your thread.

If you're that unhappy with it, would it not be a better idea to return for a refund?

In that case I would contact seller, say it is not as described and ask for a refund. If something does not do what it should (ie you need ties to hold it down) then it is misdescribed.

Alternatively, if it does do what it says but a buyer failed to read the listing, or bought an unsuitable size then the buyer is at fault and should not be leaving a neutral.

But that's just it, it was described correctly as a universal raincover to fit a range of single buggies, correct sizes, correct colour, brand new unused. No mention of quality or ties therefore seller was right.

However would assume (yes my fault) that it would have ties like most raincovers to keep it down in wind.

Needed it so will not send it back but then how to go about feedback ? all positives? can't do brilliant seller however item will need .... to be used for purpose?

Sorry it's just now that I have seen the effect it can have on sales I don't want to cause probs but then I don't want to lie an say I am very pleased etc with product.

Is my first purchase, so like I said newbie here.

Perhaps it would be best to,leave nothing at all, that way you won't have to say anything you are not happy to say.
