Hi money savers. Ive not posted for a while.

At the end of the month my dad and step mum are taking my son to the sea side over night. This will be the first night without him in all eight years.

Anyway we thought of going out for a meal but funds will not allow. So im after ideas of what we can do instead. .......no rude replies please:p

What about a takeaway either from a restaurant or from supermarket (there's some great offers and some include a free bottle of plonk) a DVD and snuggle up on the sofa, like a date night :)

Or you could have some nice music playing and set the living room floor up with duvets, pillows etc and give each other a massage or something?

lol - well if a bit of er, hanky panky isn't in your plans...............recreate a date night. hire a movie you both went to see, get a takeaway (if you had fish or chips or a Chinese or indian meal) and just chill!

I agree with the date night idea. To bring costs down further what we sometimes do is make hotdogs with steamed onions etc, popcorn and choc ices. Then load up a DVD,turn down the lights and recreate the cinema experience with no annoying kids, sweetie munchers et all!

    Or

A nice romantic evening walk and some hot soup when you get back into the warm.

If the weather is nice we would go for a lovely evening stroll (Along the canal) to a really nice pub and sit in the beer garden for an hour or 2. Then wonder home, pop something in the oven and light a fire in the garden. We would then sit outside to eat and drink and chat until the wee small hours warmed up by the fire.

If the weather is horrible I would set the dining room table for two, light the candles and put on some music. Well, I think you know the rest...

I like the idea of a nice walk, couple of drinks then home for candlelit dinner and no TV - perhaps some board games or cards over a glass of wine, chatting with music on.
As a parent zoning out at the end of a long day with TV is the easy option for me but as I am single it's also almost other than crafting the only one! :D

Anglepye - go with a friend. Or take your kid/s for a walk, have a pizza meal when you get home and play some board games before bed.

You could get a book from the local library and learn to give each other professional (style) massages :-), and or watch videojug/ youtube tutorials.

Light some fancy candles and viola, romantic night in.

    Pampering package for two:
Indian head massage (library book + online tutorials)
Aromatherapy massage (as above, buy a bottle of essential oil, like lavender, mix with olive oil)
Exfoliating lemon and ginger back scrub (could make your own with grainy sugar / see online for recipes)

could also add on a hot cloth facial (basicaly cleanse tone and moisturise (lol) but have the other person do it for you while you lie down and relax (it feels so different lol), you need some smellies, a face cloth and a bucket of hot water)

This is what me and my hubby do when the kiddies stay at my mums. We call it our duvet night ;)
