Friend asked last night if it is possible to buy a PC (desk or laptop, he prefers the latter) with no components made in China, which he is trying to boycott due to human rights' and animal welfare abuses.
I said I didn't think it's possible??

Although even then the actual components (resistors, ICs etc) on the parts (motherboard, dvd drive etc) might still have come from China."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Also considering both AMD and Intel have facilities in China, I'm not sure it would even be possible to make a pc without any links to China unless you forensically tracked/studied the history of every chip. And logically if you were boycotting based on moral beliefs then surely you'd boycott the companies linked with China as much as anything physically coming out of China."She is quite the oddball. We live in a country which invades countries, and drops bombs on innocent people, and detains people without trial. It's going to be difficult to survive if you boycott all the ills of the world.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Too true, personally I'm too much of a hypocrite to boycott anything."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
