Same as my sons, and they are usually really good in letting them use them for a good 3 months to see if there is a difference in reading speed. We then had to pay for the colourimetry screening and lenses as my son needs them for board work and writing too.

He was doing really well with the glasses, but is forgetting to wear them at the moment, his memory is bad too! So back to school to get them to remind him!

    Good luck

Thanks Choccymoose, it's so stressful being a parent isn't it?

My daughter has so much else going on medically this is honestly the last thing she needs, she never seems to catch a break but she's such a trooper and I'm so proud of her.

  • My 8 year old son has it. He was way behind at school but it wasn't until he did a visual stress test (provided for all students at his school for a short time) that I understood the problems he was having. Text would jump about and go blurry, he just thought that was normal!

He was given an overlay which he used for about 6 months and he now has tinted lenses.

His reading speed increased (immediately) by over 50%. Regular symptoms including dizziness and nausea were also relieved. He is happier, more confident at school and his teacher is amazed at the progress he has made since his diagnosis.

You need to do a search on Facebook for "parents of kids with visual stress"

DD gets dizzy, feels sick, gets headaches. I thought it was from her other medical problems.

She is now complaining of blurring, double vision, words moving on the page & colours dropping on to her page like paint being dripped. How the heck can people read at all with all that going on?
She also tripped up the step as she said it looked further away than it was so her depth perception is off too.

More the merrier, once you have been accepted there is a petition not far down the page to get the screening and lenses funded nationally, not just in pockets of the country. :) look forward to seeing you on there. I am the one moaning about my son not wearing his glasses and missing out on benchmarking :)
