    Why don't they just ask the referee what your weakness is (if they're giving you the job) if they're so keen to get the true answer?

    Should a good interviewer not be able to pick up the weakness from the other answers etc in the interview

    That's not the point of the question at all. They are asking you how you have overcome something.

    Well um, ok, so if something was a weakness, but now isn't, that doesn't answer the question.

    Yeah ok then tell them you have a job getting up on a Monday that will work as a good weakness.

    You are meant to keep them thinking positive things about you not negative ones.

    Weaknesses do not exist, just challenges and solutions:

    Try to tailor your responses to your specific job or task. You should always turn your weakness into a positive attribute. The trick is to talk about your weaknesses so that they can also appear to be a strength'

    Yes of course, that is the drill. But I swear if I'm in an interview and someone technical asks me that question, I'm walking out ;) I can kind of tolerate it from HR types, as that is the sort of thing they ask.

    So I can be selfish, impatient and bad tempered. How can I turn that lot into a strength?

    Unless they say in your private life what are your weaknesses?

    You could say you like plan and do not like spontaneous things etc but then that can be turned into a positive
