Does Yahoo mail give out 'read receipts' and can you turn them off?

I have the free internet version of Yahoo email and I'd rather that a certain somebody isn't judging me by the time I take to respond (i.e. can they tell that I've already read their message?)
I can't find anything in the settings to turn off such a feature, so can I assume it's not available?
