Help with costs for DBS check.?

OP, if your friend is young enough to register with Connexions, they might pay for the check. My daughter is a care worker and when she first started, she was told she needed to pay for her CRB (and Dogger69 is correct, it is quite common in care work due to the high turnover of staff). She couldn't afford the CRB, and I am on benefits myself (I care for my disabled child). Connexions said that the JC should pay, JC said Connexions should pay. After a bit of to and fro, Connexions agreed to pay.
Usefulmale, care work isn't for everyone. Some people think they can cope, but faced with cleaning an incontinent adult puts many people off. Also, it isn't the easy option some people think it is. It can be hard, often physical, work, and some are genuinely unsuited to this type of work. then again, there are others who see it as a stopgap until they get a better job.
For some, however, it is a job that they love. My daughter no longer works for her original employer (an agency). She now has a permanant job in a retirement village, regular hours and relatively well paid compared to most care jobs in this area.0 -

The OP claims her friends employer is demanding that she pay for a DBS, yet in the next paragraph she says her friend is on JSA?
OP - if your friend doesn't have a written offer of employment, subject to DBS, tell her not to pay because that IS a scam.

Sorry - Should've read 'potential employer'

Tongue in cheek, just get the standard one done of own back it's cheaper I've found out!!! especially if there is nothing in writing about needing enhanced! then say they'll have to pay the rest to make it enhanced! ha ha! (ok it probably doesn't work like that!)
Was at a group interview for a call centre yesterday (because I'll need one for this fortunately their going to accept last year's CRB) and the interviewers there were disgusted at goes on for the cost of an enhanced DBS - it was a very interesting convo I must say!0
