i was a bridesmaid just recently, for the dress we split the cost (we both choose it and i can easily wear it again) and then 24hours before the wedding i got my gift, wellies!!!
the bride had stripy wellies and i had spotty wellies, blue and white (my dress was blue)
such an aweseome idea (she needed wellies for the outdoor photos) and i got to dance the night away in wellies.
awesome present, will use all the time and remember my best mate!0 -
Hi, aren't you lovely to be thinking of your bridesmaids
Mine got their dresses, shoes, bags, pashminas paid for. We also paid to have their hair done and bought their hair accessories which they kept.
Their main present was then their necklaces for the day.
However I then also put together a little 'survival kit' containing sparkling wine, chocolates and bits and pieces for the day that I gave to them in the morning with their necklace and thank you card. I also did one of these for my mum and for my husband (to be at the time). I think it was a nice idea but I don't actually know how much of the things they did use. I didn't spend a huge amount of money on them though.
Here is what they got...0 -
We have 4 bridesmaids and a flower girl. We bought their dresses and matching clutch bag, and have told them they can wear whatever shoes they like - as long as they are comfy!!
We aren't paying for their hair & make up (in fact I'm not paying for my own, my wonderful cousin is doing it for me although I have got some thank you gifts for her). Didn't think we had money in the budget and I don't mind how they style their hair. As it turns out we do have money left, so am treating them all to manicures the day before.
In terms of gifts, I have: personalised cotton bags and mugs from Vistaprint, only paid for postage as it was one of their free offers, compact mirrors which were in the sale in Debenhams (£4.80), wine glasses which were ridiculously reduced in Clintons (69p!!), pearl style bracelets, and they each have a photoframe, which I am going to put a little note in, saying something along the lines of, to be filled at a later date.
It's good that you've got a long time to think about things, means you can pick up some bargains if you see them!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
I had 2 years to plan too and got the vistaprint bags for wedding party, they all got a thank you personalised mug and pen - vistaprint again!
A bottle of wine which I've stuck a lable on quoting Joey from Friends (as its my fav show).
And various things I've picked up over the last two years. Remember every time you buy something to add it to your sheet. Its easy if you pick something up for 99p to forget about it, but it all soon adds up.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I'd be happy to be any of your bridesmaids!
When I was best man, I got my buttonhole, my tie, a bottle of wine and a gorgeous thankyou teddy, and I still though they'd spent too much on me haha!

I've been a bridesmaid 3x (allbeit 45 years ago to 20 years ago) - and each time I've been given a small piece of silver jewellery to wear on the day as my gift. I probably got given them before the day, maybe 1-2 days before, with the words "This is a present to say thank you for being a bridesmaid and is for you to wear on the day"
For the record I got: An adjustable silver bangle; a zodiac necklace; a St Christopher. Of all three the bangle's been my lifelong favourite.... given aged 6 I wore it until I was 20 and still have it, although it'd cracked through use and because it had been a child's bangle originally. I then kept it carefully, the bride emigrated - and she returned to visit over 40 years later. She was amazed I still had it - I rushed to get it, she took it, squeezed it and it brokeI intend to fix it one day, it just needs soldering.

This has got me thinking about my future dream wedding... I really like personalised gifts
Jewellery sounds great however I wouldn’t feel obliged to get them anything expensive, it is your day after all and weddings are expensive ventures.

When I was bridesmaid for my sisters they bought me my dress but I paid for my own shoes, hair and make-up, and I also got a small present - one sister got me a spa voucher and the other got me a little hand mirror. I think the jewellery and card is plenty but if you're giving other people presents after the speeches and don't want them to feel left out then a small thing (maybe earrings to match the necklace?) could be an idea."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0
