Fundraising ideas?

Options
Hi all,

As a few of you may know I run a cheerleading squad. We get no funding and are simply there to try and keep kids off the streets and give them confidence.

We're looking to fundraise for equipment and uniforms. I have applied for grants from Warburtons, Awards for All and the Gillian Dickinson Trust.

We did a sponsored event recently and are booked in to do a car wash this weekend.

I'm running out of fundraising ideas...help please?

    Sponsorship from a local company/companies?

    Raffle?

Organise a show/talent show/x factor type thing at a local hall and sell tickets?

I was going to suggest a car wash. I mcuh prefer something like that than a sponsored event as at least people get something for the money they are giving.

What ages are in your squad?
This probably wouldn't work in terms of insurance and stuff, but have you thought of children's parties?
Parents book a hall (or at their own home, if it's big enough) and book your squad to come out. You put on a show for the children and then do a few cheerleading themed activities with them (e.g. teach them a couple of moves). You could probably charge £100 for a 90 minute session.

Or how about a street performance, like a busker? Obviously I mean with getting permission from the council or whoever.

Do the students (or their parents, if it's children) have money? [E.g. I could see this idea working in, say, Richmond but not in, say, Tower Hamlets.] Are there ways you could increase your income from them? Presumably you don't want to up your fees, but how about, for example, optional clothing/bags/etc with your logo on it? Or you could get some routines filmed and sell DVDs to the parents?

bag pack at a local supermarket.

plenty of other grants out their.

target specific companies and ask for specific things: ie don't just write asking for money, ask for items linked with them.

also not on the fundraising front but on the spending front, try and source kit etc direct from factories or uk importer and not buy retail.

one example of that for the charity i work with an item cost £400.00 retail in the UK, we sourced directly from China and pay £60.00 per item, with a bit more hassle importing etc, but we have over 120 of these that need changing so you can see big savings.
