Customer wants me to use his company email address on my work

Hi All,
I've got a customer who would like me to set up an email address for myself at his domain name. (eg, if my business is called 123 & his is called ABC, he'd like me to send any emails relating to his work using the email address @ABC.com
Now in some ways I don't have a problem with this, I guess they think this looks more professional to his own customers.
My concern is that this might complicate matters in terms of my own business. I don't want to imply i'm employed by his company when I not!
Can anyone help with their thoughts?
Thanks

Would it cost you the business saying no?
Also, could he not just create an account with your name on it and then give that to his cusotmers who email that address and it gets forwarded to your correct on?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

Possibly - if I have a good enough reason to say no, maybe it would be ok, but I don't want to upset him.Takeaway_Addict wrote: »Also, could he not just create an account with your name on it and then give that to his cusotmers who email that address and it gets forwarded to your correct on?
Yes, this would be more sensible, though I don't see why I can't send emails from my own address & just on "123 on behalf of ABC"0 -
Is this work that you are doing on his behalf, that he is then charging for?0

Cant see any problem, my husband does that with some of the clients he works for, they set up an e mail address for him and it has the companies ending - it saves him having to explain the relationship if new contracts to sort out with new people - they see the company name and accept he is authorised to deal with the problems.0

Yes, his business has secured an order for products & services which he will charge them for. I will be more or less manging the order which I will charge for him.Cant see any problem, my husband does that with some of the clients he works for, they set up an e mail address for him and it has the companies ending - it saves him having to explain the relationship if new contracts to sort out with new people - they see the company name and accept he is authorised to deal with the problems.
Thanks - just don't want to get the wrong side of HMRC0 -
I don't see a problem with it, it's something I've often done myself. As comeandgo suggests, it's give their customer the confidence that you're in a position to deal with matters and not a case of them 'being passed from pillar to post'.
I don't see how it would ever be an issue with HMRC - it's none of their business, quite frankly.0 -
If it's for emailing his customers regarding work related to his company then I don't see any problem with it.
HMRC will not care what email address you use - as long as this isn't the only client you do work for then you're not classed as an employee.0 -
many thanks all.
mind you, it will be strange when I asnwer the phone with my own business name!0 -
Then don't do that!supermonkey wrote: »many thanks all.
