Black horse finance

Hi,we had a secured loan with black horse and paid it off in march 2005.
Now I've finally dug out the account number, I wanted to claim back ppi.
Firstly, though, would we have a chance considering its 8 years since it was paid off?
Also, we are 90% sure we had ppi on the account, but not 100% sure, so if they say there wasn't any we'd have to believe them....are they obligated to be honest?
What would be the best way to proceed?
Thanks, in advance.

They have to answer to the best of their ability based on the information they still have available.Firstly, though, would we have a chance considering its 8 years since it was paid off?
Time is an issue. As is whether you bought it direct from Black Horse or via a broker.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
It was direct from them, face to face. They did sell the ppi as a pre requisit of getting the loan.0

Be careful. In post one you said you were not sure if you had it. In post 3 you are saying it was pre-requisite. That sort of error would be picked up on by a competent complaints handler.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I got the hard sell too and was told it would greatly increase my chance of obtaining the loan if i took out the PPI. I did and managed to successfully get almost £3000 back thanks to the wonderful people on here. i started my claim back in July 2011 so its be a long road but it paid off in the end. Black horse will knock you back several times and also tell you after investigating they see no evidence of mis-selling so just stick with it.
I don't know if it will help but here's my thread from back then https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/33525520 -
Hi shopaholic2
Can you remember if you were paying just one single monthly payment to Black horse for your loan and the PPI. If so this is single premium/ front loaded PPI.0 -
Hi, we were paying just one payment per month to them. Thanks for the help....it was a while ago, but oh has a better memory than me!0

We had two loans direct from Black Horse one starting in 2002 and another 2003 - we only had loan agreement numbers but knew we had PPI on them. We were also given the 'hard sell' ie if you take PPI more chance of the loan being agreed - they have just paid out over £10,000 to us.
Might be worth filling in those forms!0
