Damage caused to my property
Hi guys and girls I am a newbie so be gentle!!!!
I am looking for some advice if possible on getting some compensation (costs incurred by me for work carries out) due to an old disused electric cable belonging to western power attached to the side of my house which was old rusty and holding water in my external wall!!!!!
The circs are:
In 2011 I contacted my local council in order to get said cable moved repaired as there was water coming in to my property!
The work was carried out by western power who took away the cable and left a great big hole around 7ft high 4 inch wide and around 3 inch deep in the side of my wall. They also dug up the pavement outside my house and left this open for 3 days during which as I live in Wales there was heavy rainfall.
The damage to my house consisted of the internal plaster on the effected wall blowing and water seeping in. The neighbouring joint wall had to be hacked down to see if there was further damage and the floor downstairs being dug up due to the water ingress over the years. Also the upstairs bedroom had to be hacked and repaired as well as carpet replaced
And bed etc.
All in all I paid for the work and associated cost totalling around £9000.
I contacted WP to be told they are not excepting liability as the surveyor who attended. After the work was completed for around 3 minutes in total said it was a flaw in my subfloor and nothing to do with the cable even though my pics clearly show the wall had blown and the water coming trough directly behind the said cable???
Basically I am after some advice in regard of where to turn next as they are having none of it????
Thanks in advance.

You need independent legal advice. Unfortunately the internet is not the place to find it ... at least of any value that you can depend upon.
