Yeah just say "look mum, I've been an idiot, let's hug and make up...?"

Or buy her something nice with a little card then make her a cuppa and have a good chat about Bulgaria.

You only get one mum and life really is too short.

I am sure your mum would accept an apology and not hold things against you. She has raised you well enough to be able to admit when you are in the wrong and to want to sort a problem out after all. Then sit down together over a cuppa, start planning all you will do on your holiday and look forward to it.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

Yep, apologise (stick a temporary bandage on the situation it you have to), and go enjoy Bulgaria. How knows, you two may have a super holiday together.

Not all mothers would respond to any of the above, only the OP knows ...

I suspect that what I'd have to do with MY mother would be to just carry on as normal, not even considering that either of us would NOT be going on holiday.

And with other people present (preferably from outside the family) I'd need to ask her direct questions which she couldn't avoid answering before she would speak to me.

Sure, I might have taken the flowers / chocolates round, but that might not be enough for my mother ... she stopped speaking to me for several months before my wedding, but behaved impeccably on the day.
