Giving up work!

Hi
I currently have a well paid job. I am thinking of giving it up. I broke my ankle last summer and it is still not right.
I cannot do my previous job but my employers have been helpful to modify what I do but it still difficult to do.
Iwas off work with my ankle for 6 months and went back in January, I haven't been able to do a full weeks work yet and I'm still struggling.
My question is will I be entitled to any benefits if I choose to give up my job.?
My husband works full time (a good wage).
cheers for any replies

You might be entitled to contribution based JSA for 6 months depending on how much NI you have paid over the previous couple of tax years, but if your husband earns a good wage you wouldnt get income based JSA, cont based JSA runs for 6 months.
You could sign on and get your NI stamp paid if you dont qualify for any benefits.
Im not sure about any benefits due to your injury, possibly someone else might know better than I do.0 -
Hi
As I would be voluntary giving up my job would I lose out on JSA?
I have never claimed any benefits and worked for 30 yearspaid all debts off 2024 yay0 -
I think you get sanctioned for a while if you leave a job voluntarily. I'm sure if you Google it you can find out for how long.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0

Thanks for the correction. I don't really know too much.
I think Pauline is correct 13 weeks.
Would it have any affect if I said I left because I couldn't cope any more?paid all debts off 2024 yay0 -

But if you give up your job and claim JSA, you will have to look for another job! Is it the current job you can't cope with, or work in general? If it's work in general there's no point claiming JSA because you won't be job-hunting, surely?DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
It is work in general that I won't be able to cope with.
Pauline suggested JSA.
Having looked around, at some sites:
I was wondering about a disability benefit.(I realise it is changing at the moment)
I realise I cant decide that I have a disability, but who makes that decision to start with, regarding benefits.
When I went back to work I was positive about recovering, but now I feel am not going to recover and I'm finding working 7 1/2 hours 5 days a week too much for me.
I am finding I am assessing my ability to work.
I have always worked(30 years) but it is now a struggle.
I see that JSA is not really suitable for me, but is there another benefit that does apply
