I hope they accept it's just the wheel trim. If they want to be a***y then they could claim the steel radial is also damaged and possible wall damage to the tyre.

I remember hiring a Yaris a few years ago in the Canaries, I lost two wheel trims going down a dirt track (poor sign posts). Luckily I paid cash for the car hire and parked it up against a wall when I took it back. They never noticed. :j

They came back to me saying I still have to pay a £36 admin cost on top of the cost of replacing the wheel trim.

I told them where to go and how disrespectful that is considering their admin error in charging me £174. They eventually decided to waive the admin cost.

I dont think the admin fee is that unfair.

In reality you damaged their car and they need it fixed. It doesnt just cost them the part, they have to order and replace that item and a member of staff will be being paid to do that.

Some hire car companies will also charge you for the time the car is off road being repaired

I got charged 900 EUR for a 10cm scratch to the metal in Stockholm.

I got some other quotes and the average price was 400 EUR

After being lied to about the fact that the car had been repaired they now admit it hasn't been......but (probably another lie) the car has been on a long term hire since august 2013 (3 months) and they have no idea when it'c coming back.

I'll keep hassling them until I get proof. I don't give up
