got a mouldy caravan help!!!!!

HI

Has anyone here got a touring caravan?

Basically, we put it away last august for the winter and we went up last night to check it out before we go away Friday..and oh dear what a mess

It smelt soooo musty and theres mould grown everywhere poss!! Probably because we cant ventilate it any way.

Any suggestions what to do re cleaning i.e. any good products, methods etc…!!!!

I’ve binned all the bedding!!

Give it a good wipe over with bicarbonate of soda dissolved in a bit of water. Leave the windows and doors open for a while and buy a dehumidifier if you can.

A good idea for the end of this season is to leave a few of those instant barbeques on the floor (obviously with the plastic wrapper off them - and not lit!!) The charcoal will 'soak up' the damp and musty smells - you always get the little bbq's at the end of the summer for next to nothing. Also try leaving some bowls of salt in the cupboards.

Sheets of 'Bounce' fabric softener apparently wards off mice and other little beasties.

Always take the cushions out at the end of the season as well - store them about your house - on top of wardrobes etc.
