This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
The situation at work is playing on my mind, so rather than get a good night's work I'm awake & worrying about it. I am likely to spend tomorrow being screamed & shouted at by irate staff who cannot get their work done. I'm assuming it is some sort of stupid power play between 2 members of staff with me bearing the brunt of the complaints!
DS came over for tea last night, he wanted to warn me that due to a change in the rules this year my car will fail it's MOT, I have a faulty sensor light on my dash, so something else to worry about, DS is trying to find someone to fix it on the cheap.
Pork belly for hubby for tea tonight, not sure what I'll have, I can't eat pork & probably won't feel like eating tonight anyway.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Ohhh Hester - Hope today is better than anticipated and that you got some sleep. I would be tempted to have a day or two off sick with stress!

Butterfly - hope today goes well for you. I have forgotten what op you were having?

Woken early by Molly Dog who is now snoring at the bottom of my bed. She is becoming a little princess!

Hope you all have a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Hester - am really sorry you are dreading work, I seem to spend most of my life doing that these days and it's no way to live :(

With regard to your car, please search online before paying out. We had 2 fault lights on our dashboard and are due a MOT next month, with the help of google I have managed to clear both myself.

Molly - how are you and how are your sons?

Butterfly - hope all goes well today.

Hall is now piled high with exam marking for OH. My ebay overfloweth but will it sell?

Thai pork meat balls and low carb noodles for dinner. Fasting day so cheap no brekkie or lunch!

Dashing as usual for the dreaded work.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Good Morning chums ,bit nippy this morning but at least its dry for the moment .DGS Ben is deep in his AS exams bless him but has got today off and he had a big Film one yesterday that lasted for just under 3 hours and the next one is English on Friday.I must give him his due his exam yesterday was in the afternoon but he went into school at 10 in the morning to do extra revision all though he didn't have to.He really is pushing himself for these exams and I do hope he does well.In a way I'm glad its not too hot and sunny as he does get dreadful hay fever and when he did his GCSE's he really suffered throughout them all as the pollen count was so high.
I think I may take him out for a good feed when he has finished them as he's off his food at the moment and seems to be living on coffee and the odd sandwich. He's also still doing his morning paper round as he share one with his pal and its his week on this week.Hopefully he will go back to bed for a lie in when he gets in this morning.
I know I probably worry too much but when you see youngsters really trying hard you just want to help them a bit if possible.
Still no shopping to buy this week and I have been using up bits from the fridge and tonight for dinner I have a cottage pie from the freezer with some red cabbage and carrots.I think I will put a rice pudding on this morning as I've not had one of those for ages and if I make a 2 pinter it will do several days I like the top sprinkled with cinnamon(my favourite spice)
Well enough waffling time to have a shower and breakfast
have a good day everyone and I hope the sun shines on your washing :):):)

    Dinner last night was lovely,
My wife cooked Bubble and sq eek with some nice big fat sausage's
The recipe for this came out of our Jaime at Home Cook Book.
This is another good book that we like and have done a few of the recipes out of there. This book also looks at gardening, And Growing your own Veg too.

    Not sure about Dinner tonight.

Not much on for me again today. My wife's not at work until this afternoon. No choir for her tonight so she's at home then too.

Not a too bad nights sleep for me. I did have to get up and have spent half the night In my chair. But did sleep.

Just got a headache this morning. Waiting for the pain killers to kick in.

Hester I hope that your day goes well, Try not to stress to much about it.

Well I hope that you all have a grate day,

Morning! I hope all you poorly bunnies feel better today.

Good luck today butterfly. I always think luck is an odd thing for an operation but I still say it anyway.

hester, it sounds a nightmare, if you can try to diffuse the situations before they occur its bond to be better. Redruby has the right idea.

redruby. I refuse to do the heating in May too. Blankets and jumpers are the way forward.

I'm doing a bit of a food shop today. I have printed of a lot of vouchers and got lots with my Clubcard vouchers too, so I'm going to Tesco today. I've been reading the second purse thread so I'm going to do that. I cleared two shelves yesterday in preparation.

HM chicken and ham pie for dinner, I'm making enough filling to have as a pasta topping tomorrow. halight I love bubble and squeak but my family moan about it. They don't mind greens and mash separately though. Nowt as queer as folk.

Molly - how are you and how are your sons?

Hello - thank you for asking x
My youngest son has CAMHS today and we have three words from him since Sunday:(

My eldest son is plodding along ok. He has an interview for a better job on Friday which would cut down enormously on his travel so fingers crossed x

    Morning everyone

Hester - sorry work is horrid at the moment, I've had jobs where the bosses have been awful and it really makes your working life dreadful - if you seem to be in the middle of a battle of 2 others - don't let it get so bad you can't cope with it, report it to your line manager (hopefully it's not your line manager that's involved!) - I bet you're not paid enough (as most of us aren't) to take all the hassle. (the bit about pay wasn't meant nastily IYKWIM).

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Sunny and cloudy this this morning. It has stopped raining at the moment but more is forecast today.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was roast chicken, mash, carrots, cauli, broccolli, gravy and stuffing - clean plates all round. Tonight I'm not certain what we will be eating, but could be fish or risotto. Haven't visited the SM this week at all not even for top-ups of anything, been making do with what we have or substituting ingredients etc. Hoping for a not too expensive shop this week too as the last few weeks it's been horrendous.

Today I have all the normal chores, have loads of washing to do, so also lots of drying and the weather's not good enough to dry on the line so will have to use the TD. Will pack DW shortly and put it on quick wash, then get going with the clothes washing - my poor WM gets a real bashing at the end of the week as I keep it going until the dirty wash basket is empty as it just seems to fill up so quickly! Once the washing is in the machine I will make a start on the housework - want to get as much done today as possible - as I have other chores that I need to get done tomorrow and we're going away tomorrow night. Want to get some baking done at some point too.

School rang and I have an appointment on Wednesday to see their support worker so will see what she has to say.

    Keep safe and well x
