Can anyone please help or advise me, my pcs not beed too good for a while with minor problems like hanging when i boot it up and then sometimes i got boot disc failure insert system disc but hitting the reset button it then booted into windows so things came to a head yesterday when nortons reported a fault and needed fresh install so i uninstalled but it wouldnt let me reinstall at all so finally i reformatted and have put the basics including norton back on which installed no bother but this morning i came down to find it hanging at the boot disc failure and again a reset button put me back into windows but im now wondering what could be the problem as obviously the reformat didnt solve this problem

When you reinstalled did you delete the partition, create a new one then format that or did you just reformat an existing one?
One possibility could be your HDD.0 -
The fact that it boots after pressing reboot suggest that your disk is failing and isn't getting up to speed fast enough. It might last for some time yet, but you might want to think of replacing it. IIRC some bios's used to support a start delay that would let your disk spin up.0

Yes a complete install deleting the partition and then reformatting a new one took 3 hours to get back online last night, so it looks like hard drive on its road out then, thanks for your help;)The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
