Postcode not found.

Hello can someone help me please?

I have recently moved into a brand new property and I wish to make use of this site and it's cheap energy club amongst other things.

However on this site and many other sites when I input my postcode it doesn't find my address.

It is on the Royal Mail postcode finder service though.

At present I am with British Gas for both gas and electric.

It is a small 2 bedroom flat with only 2 people living there so the usage will be low.

I am having problems getting utilities, landline, broadband and TV sorted due to it not being on many databases as yet.

I did manage to get my home contents insurance sorted out but that could possibly have been a better deal had my postcode been in other companies databases.

Please could you advise me on the best way to get the best deals.

Many Thanks.

The postcode database (PAF) is revised quarterly. The lates version is n the Royal Mail website (give or take a week or so). However, the firms you mention usually source a version NOT from the PO, but a licenced reseller who integrated it within their IT systems.

Depending on the level of service plan they pay for they get the database available at the time of supply, and more often than not is up to a year out of date.

It WILL be updated at some stage - but you'll never know when! Your deals may also require your be code being classified by an underwriter before it appears.

Energyhelpline (as one example) still allows you to compare energy prices even if your postcode is not recognised; it asks you for your supply region if it doesn't recognise your postcode :)
