Pick up a summer IOW guide on the Wightlink or Red Funnel Ferries. The guide lists everything available to see.
If you are a member of English Heritage then Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, Yarmouth Castle & Appuldurcombe House. For days out for kids: Blackgang Chine & Robin Hill. These attractions are the only ones that will be full days out. Most of the other attractions are small and only take 2-3 hours max.
We quite like the small and stinky Amazon Zoo World. Brading Roman Villa interesting. Dinosaur Isle is poor unless you have an avid interest in old bones. At Ryde there is a Waltzing Waters which is different. Along the Esplanade at Ryde past the hovercraft terminal is a childrens playpark and wet fountain playzone so take swimming stuff and towels.
Free stuff although a bit shoppingy: Arreton Barns and The Old Smithy at Godshill.
If you plan to eat out check out Matt and Cats website:

We use their site every time to find places to eat whenever we visit the Isle. The man without a signature.0 -

There is the Island railway where you can take a trip in Victorian and Edwardian carriages along 5 1/2 miles of track. http://www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk/0

There is a butterfly far near Newport which is good. We were lucky as we went on a warm day so there were plenty of butterflys flying about.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090

Hi the kids will love Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill. You can save money and buy joint tickets also the ticket lets you get into the attraction again on a second day.
Like somebody else said pick up booklet on ferry as always offers in there. Shanklin is lovely (love the Steamer pub on seafront) and the walk along seafront to Sandown is nice.
At Wroxall is the Donkey sanctuary which just asks for donations. If you like walking you can easily walk from here to Godshill for a cream tea and the children would love the model village.
The Oasis shop on road from Ryde to newport is lovely and they often do offers on an early coffee in their scrummy cafe.
The Garlic farm shop is really worth popping into with lots of tasters.
I love just driving around the island!0 -
agree with all that has been said but alsio Colemans farm, We spend the full day there, take a picnic, kids can take part in collect the eggs, help brush the ponys, feed the lambs etc its brilliant all scheduled so you know when its going to happen and in between it all they have the play barns indoors. fantastic family day out0
