Problem Accessing Abbey Esaver Account!

I have not seen anything about Abbey esaver on this forum which surprises me as I have been locked out of my account since Monday. Apparently Abbey did some maintenance over the weekend and now no one can access their esaver account through the internet or cash machines and the account is not useable over the counter at Abbey banks.
I have tried again this morning and am still getting an error message. I hope they sort it out soon as I use it to transfer funds to my current account to keep it topped up for bill payments, etc.
I am assured that if my current account were to go in to debt that they would refund any charges but it is extremely unusual for a system to be down for a couple of days (or more) before a technical problem is sorted out.

dealsercher, I don't know - because I haven't used mine for so long that I had to ask Abbey to reissue me passwords (etc) this week. By the time those arrive and I can check it will probably all be sorted out though......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

It's not just Esaver that has been affected. I couldn't access my current account until today. I can confirm it is still not possible to transfer any money out of the Esaver account. I'm fortunate in that I can get hold of money from elsewhere so I'm not desperate. But if Abbey carry on like this they will lose customers, assuming of course, we can actually get hold of the money.0

i've just accessed both my eSaver & current accounts with scabby abbey, -
they've certainly had problems, - i couldnt access it earlier in the week, - then there was a few posts on other forums, - some bloke logged into his account, and there in front of him was someone else's account (!!) -0 -
I was also locked out of both current account and e saver. When I rang the technical helpline I was told that it appeared to affect account holders with debit cards due for renewal in the next three months. They did confirm my balances for me and were willing to transfer money via the phone if I was still locked out by today but I have gone in ok this morning. Does make me think a bit about a "plan B" ............. I mean what if the computer broke down.....but we all know that doesn't happen does it!!!!!!!!0

I have just tried transfering money again and can not do so. It is not a matter of 'getting into the account', which is no problem, but of transfering money when you are in.
I went to a branch yesterday and the manager authorised the transfer from my esaver to my current account so that my outgoings are covered, but normally you can not use esaver over the counter.
It is now more than 3 days and still not sorted out! I am told it is to do with getting the Abbey computers to work with the Santander computers.0 -
BBC's Working Lunch have had an item on it as they have received so many emails about the problem. This is the link:

Abbey are in the middle of a major upgrade to their card and ebanking systems. This does mean that some services aren't available for a bit. Any esaver transactions can be done over the phone or in branch while the work is going on.0

I am sorry but to lose this service for nearly a week (so far) is totally unacceptable and not just 'for a bit' as well! They will have people closing their accounts as they rely on ebanking to deal with their accounts. There are plenty of other banks that do not have these problems with their ebanking.0 -

I asked for around £5,000 to be transfered over the phone and they couldn't do it. I haven't tried at a branch yet, except for a smaller amount of £300 which they could do with 'special authority' from the branch manager.
By the way the move money function is still out of service this morning!0 -
It would appear that after one week the Abbey have almost sorted this out. There are still minor problems and they took a week to do it! :rolleyes:0
