Help please this has been coming up for over a week

This has been coming up for over a week every time I boot up the lappy however it will not let the disc check progress it automatically cancels itself.

"Checking file system on c: the type of file system is NTFS.
volume label is OS. One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency.
You may cancel the disc check but it is strongly recommended that you continue.
Disc checking cancelled."

Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks
;)

You should let it run it means your hard drive has bad sectors and Windows is wanting to scan and repair it.

Sometimes just booting in Safe Mode and the doing a restart will clear persistent chkdsk warnings

Try running a chkdsk from within windows - in file explorer right click on the C: drive then select properties / tools and run check drive for errors. Might work might not.
