DMP review - don't want to tell them about pay rise!

Been on PP DMP since 2008. Annual review due, but don't want to admit increase in salary - I know it's wrong, but sooooooo fed up with living on the breadline. Advice please - I'm not normally a dishonest person.

Tell them or cancel the DMP and come up with your own, where you pay less.
If you're in debt you should be living on the breadline though.. you can spend more frivolously when you're debt free! What will your verse be?

I know, but fed up with life at moment. My children are growing so fast - teenagers now, bras and clothing not cheap - and always something crops up that is needed that we can't afford. Sorry to moan, but feeling low at the moment x0

I've been on my DMP since 2007 and finally getting there - should be out next year but I do sympathise with you - I am fed up to the back teeth with going without - yes I get the comment about "you're in debt so get over it" but I have lived with nothing, no holidays, no treats, crap car, no house improvements or repairs, no decent clothes, no shopping trips nothing for the last 6 years - I reckon if you're paying a decent amount each month which by now is far in excess of any minimum payment they would get on normal terms, then boll**ks to them - I'm sure some people will tell me off (go for it - all my income has done is go down with changes in tax rules and the cost of living and I have never revisited the amount of my DMP), but to be honest you won't be thanked by them. I would only countenance this though if you are heading towards the end of your DMP so you can get all holier than thou like me!0

Hi
Who is the DMP with?
You should also be going to them to request adjustments if you have extra expenditure that is not included in the budget. Even one offs twhen the boiler busts or the car need more work thatn allowe- by the budget. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

I have done that when the car has needed extra work - some of the creds are OK, but we all know the ones who aren't and where its not worth asking - the DMP has to be fair - we get we're in debt but we're the ones who are doing something about it rather than running and making no effort to pay back - we feel like second class citizens as it is without the creditors reminding us0 -
don't think being dishonest is the answer. would there be consequences to this if they found out?
could you speak to one of the debt charities to see if the payments can be re done to take the extras you are now paying for into consideration? Surely they need to leave you with enough to live on??
good luck, feel for you.LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Thanks guys. DMP is with Payplan. Think I'm just in a deep funk at the moment. Nowt to look forward to as end of DMP is so far away. Keep trying to win a little weekend break on competitions, but no luck yet lol. Still grieving for my beloved mum,who died last year, dad found new lady and is keeping me away and then hubby decides to play away from home with work colleague! Someone send me the lucky fairy xx0

Hi
People have suggested that Payplan is less generous in its plans that Step-change?
Have you updated them with the increases in costs (for example on here we often tell people to wear what they own but with growing teens and a long DMP that is not really an option so clothing costs will be higher). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Does it really matter if you tell them? You are paying back your creditors at a rate acceptable to them.
I wouldn't beat to yourself up about this and just get on with paying them and keeping the pay rise for yourself. No moral dilemma here (no matter what some may say) just relax.
If your struggling though, do as RAS suggests.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

Don't think you need to tell them. Put the payrise in a savings account for an emergency fund or for the occasional treat, otherwise it will easily fritter away. Or tell Payplan that even with payrise monthly payment is just too high and redo your budget with them. Good luckDeeBee0
