Could your step daughter help with childcare? Might look good on her CV if you can't sell it to her any other way!

£960 a year for car insurance?! Even for two cars, that seems quite high. Are they quite valuable cars? Ours is £260 a year (Esure).

Could you get a childcare voucher from work by salary sacrificing, so that you get the benefit of your tax and national insurance going towards the childcare?

Noticed you have 2 cards both with eye-watering 29.9% APR. Have you tried to apply for a 0% (or fixed-rate until b/t paid-off) card ?.
You can shift that £1500 of high interest debt to an interest-free card and keep doing that until it is paid-off. You do normally pay a 3 - 4% fee for b/ts, but this is still cheaper than such high interest.
This alone should halve your c/card payments & give you some extra to either put in a savings account to build an emergency fund, or over-pay another debt.

Have you thought about refinancing both the secured & unsecured debts ?. If you have no early repayment fees, then have a look to see if you can get a loan for the remaining amount at a lower APR (but don't even think of adding it to the mortgage). I have both refinanced an HP (for a car) at 12'6% onto a Bank loan at 8.5% & moved money around 0% cards in order to clear debts.
    Never Knowingly Understood.
