My paperboy has the same power as a debt collector......None...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Debt collectors will continue to visit the property every time the debt is sold on, sometimes for a penny in the pound. This could go on for years.

Indeed. I was at my previous address for 12 years. One previous tenant had his debts sold on about 6 times before I stopped counting.

I replied each time a new one contacted me, providing the information suggested, yet they took no notice and kept selling the debt on

Luckily I only got debt collectors at the door a couple of times, in the first couple of years.

I had this at my old house. Just continue to return the letters and keep proof of your identity and home ownership at hand for when the debt collectors return again.

I must admit though (and I don't advocate this) in the end I got so fed up with them that I used facebook and my google fu skills to track the previous owner down (it only took ten minutes) and, once I gave the information to the latest firm of debt collectors I never heard from them again!
