hope this helps :-)0 -
thanks so much everyone for all replies...
criminal smile - cheers for offer but I really want to get something I can try and learn myself (or rather let the kids teach me once they've played about with it for oooooooh lets see...... 5 minutes??!! )
Fran - thanks for the tip - i have registered a site for the family with FreeWebs.com - seems good so far. Out of interest.. do you think its worth paying for the "premium" service??0 -
Np VixxAnn, but one last piece of advice. When you do start, you will get to know a bit about html/xml/css. When you are surfing, if you come across a site that has something you would like, right click on the page, then click on view source. This will allow you to see the coding for that page. Save it on your pc (not any copyright material obviously), and then you can play about with the code, change it etc, until you get it to do the same for you.
GLI haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

just a note of caution..dont let the kids add their email addys or any info about their locations etc, including what their school is called or specific names of clubs they attend. Including pictures of themselves in school uniform it might be dangerous if an undesirable person recognised the uniform.
Most free site agreements wont let under 13's 'own' the site themselves I guess incase they do add that sort of info without thinking about it.0 -
Excellent point Culpepper. If your kids are going to be 'building' this site, then perhaps you should make sure that they don't know the password for the site manager / ftp program. This will ensure that only you can access the site for uploading, and therefore vet any changes to be made. I certainly wouldn't post any details about my kids online, apart from first names. Mind you, no-one can pronounce my kids names, so not really a problem.I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board.
