Home Insurance for house not yet purchased

Options
Is it possible to get a quote for home insurance for a house that I am thinking of purchasing? I know when looking you have to put in the address obviously of the property but not sure if I can do this as the house isn't mine. Not really sure how I go about this.....
Any thoughts?

Yep, just fill the proposal in as if you owned it although you could use a dummy name & phone number to avoid the seeming inevitable spam that follows quotes these days

As long as you dont buy it before having an insurable interest it is perfectly fine to get as many quotes as you want for properties/ cars etc that you are considering buying from a "legal" perspective.

Adding to Vaio's comments though, using slightly altered personal details can be a good idea not only due to the follow up calls but the increasingly common monitoring for quote manipulation meaning you may get unwanted loadings or warning flags against you if the insurers system thinks you are doing so many quotes to try and defraud them

When you buy it you DO have an insurable interest.

In fact you have an insurable interest from the moment you commit yourself to buying it, even if you have only paid the deposit and not the full purchase price.

I think you'll find that he meant before you buy the Insurance not before you buy the house.... :rotfl:
