Well I'm not sure... when I joined I had loads of debts that came to £10,500 (ish) but this was without interest.

It now stands at 1 debt totalling £13,630 (see sig) but this includes interest....

    So I am probably even!
    Current debt - £16,300 :(

    Thats just great!
Can I ask can you overpay your car loan and bring down the number of years of payment?
And what is Statute Barred on Capital one credit card mean?

    InTheRed x
I'm not sure if we can overpay as it's hire purchase.. something I need to look into once everything else has gone.. although apparently if we pay it off in october 08 the settlement figure will be £3k something so we'll be aiming to do that and get it paid off in full 2 yrs early.
The capital one debt was basically through a DCA that contacted DH once we started repaying people in full.. the debt was from about 10 yrs ago and Dh hadn't paid or heard anything from them since then so the debt was unenforcable (ie statute barred) so once we sent them a letter saying we weren't going to pay because of the statute barred ruling we never heard from them again.

Thanks, it did put a small smile on my face :) I guess it's easy to be sucked into being depressed about how much is still owing rather than proud of how much has gone

Wow, what a great idea! Gives everyone a big boost and shows how far we've come in such a short time.

My first post was on 31st August 2006, at that time I owed:

    £450.00 Overdraft to Abbey
    £700.00 To my mum
    £1016.37 To Bank of Scotland
    £1349.46 To HFC 1
    £2313.28 To HFC 2
    £1700.00 On Credit card

    Total ~ £7528.11

Now a mere 14 months on I have:
Paid off my Mum, Abbey Overdraft and Bank of Scotland.
    I now owe:
    £1099.56 To HFC 1
    £1884.08 To HFC 2
and the Credit card (currently £1300)

    Total ~ £4283.64

That is £3244.47 paid off in 14 months! And I am going to pay the rest off by Christmas 2008.

    Bring it on!!:D
