PayPal Fraud help!

Found out this morning PayPal account has been compromised.

2 payments made in USD to an email I don't recognise! Haven't purchased anything lately and low use account so certainly fraud.

Reported to PayPal and changed all credentials at their request.

However PayPal account was linked to old Barclays account which has since been closed and current Natwest account which has had card changed recently when I left it at train station - do they both need to be informed?

Also how will this effect me in terms of CIFAS? If at all? And is there anything else I should be doing?

Thanks,

If there were no card transactions in your PP account, I don't see any reasons for contacting the banks.

CIFAS is mainly about ID theft, not about hacked accounts.

You might want to setup 2 factor authentication on your Paypal account from now on. Its free of charge and once activated you will be sent a text whenever you successfully login to your Paypal account. You then need to enter the code from this text into the website to prove its you before they'll send any payments.

Considering I don't want any surprise payments, I think its a good idea, and normally have my phone with me anyway.

I would contact them just to make them aware.
While you may think they have been stopped. Its not uncommon for them still to debit.
But my experience is PP are very good at dealing with this and refunding in under 2 weeks.

So at least double check that they are not sat at auth at your banks.
