Oh right, I didn't realise prices had fallen that much!
I understand that 4kw is the maximum output on a sunny day, but do you have rough figures for what a 4KW system would save in electricity and generate from sale back to the grid? I wonder how long it would take to recoup the £5K?0 -

we looked at a bungalow with renta roof panels, we wanted to buy them out (or the vender to buy) the cost was £30k as near as. We put in a low offer which was beaten but the research I did indicated issues with lenders and getting remortgages etc. I'd never heard of the company so that made me even more wary.0

Actually the FIT fell first thus bringing down the cost of the panels.
2yrs ago that 4kWp system would have paid 3 times more in FITs
I would buy a house with panels on if ever I moved again but wouldn't touch rent-a-roof panels with a barge pole.
I disagree slightly there I was quoted for less than 8k for 4kw before the FIT was reduced.
Q for you, Would the statement above still be the case if you could not afford to purchase panels?
What would put you off having panels on the roof if you were not going to purchase any for that property?0 -

Always worth doing your homework but in general there are only a small % of lenders who have issues with this type of scheme. You only have to look around and see more and more going up.
20yrs ago the rumour doing the rounds was having a satellite dish was an issue if the owner had not applied for planning permission now no one bats an eye lid.0 -

Do you mean before the rate reduced from 43.4p to 21p? Or subsequent reductions since?
If so, did you snap their hand off? If not, why not?
If you had a south facing roof then your return from FITs would be around £1600-£1800 a year dependant on where you are. Just over 5 years payback plus leccy savings on top.
Even If I couldn't afford to buy my own panels I still wouldn't take RaR panels. 20-25yr lease on MY roof, no way, there's too many obstacles to jump if you ever want to sell. I've seen 3 local house sales fall through because of them.2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -

I couldn't tell you, maybe its the timescale, if the sale is in a chain and there's the headache of dealing with the leases then maybe the chain is breaking down.
Don't get me wrong, plenty of my neighbours have Rar systems and are over the moon with them, they just haven't tried selling yet, most probably won't(elderly), that'll be left to their offspring to deal with2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0
