They certainly do now because I would hate for others to not check theirs and get caught out by the understanding of this clause when they need the most help. Perhaps you work for insurance and are more wised up to the tricks of the trade. Anyway call to be made to register my disappointment with the ombudsman.

You may want to focus on the "etc" at the end of that post as that list was by no means exclusive. Indeed, it may have been a shorter list if InsideInsurance were to list the ones that dont do it that way.

And did that same sample group know that the AA, Asda, Aviva, Axa, M&S, John Lewis, Lloyds, Budget, Direct Line, LV etc all have the same clause?
Just to let you know the correspondence I have received has part of the DIRECT LINE group on it so is same company basically. ;)just to warn others of course.

It's not the same company. The underwriter is the same, but this is hardly hidden.

Get as much as you can then just change all the doors - We did this (not because of an insurance claim) and it was relatively cheap.

Really? Direct Line isn't part of the same group? I 'm confused then definitely something about Direct line on my correspondence from Churchills claims department.
jonesmufcforever have actually thought about that but my fridge freezer is in a tall appliance cupboard with tall d!cor end panels with side and the door and d!cor quotes aren't coming in cheap either.S o that would also have to be pulled out and stripped back to carcass to fit new ones .7 d!cor panels plus needed. Anyone know any decent yet cheap suppliers fitters east Yorkshire?

You didn't say it was part of the same group, you said it was the same company, basically. There is a difference and again shows your ignorance of how insurers, companies and policies work.

They are both part of the Direct Line Group along with Privilege, Greenflag, NIG, Citroen, Peugeot, Nationwide, RBS, Natwest, Sainsbury's to name but a few

If you look at Admiral Group then you have Admiral, Bell, Confused.com, Elephant, Diamond, Gladiator to name but a few.

Or BISL which is Budget, Marks & Spencers, Post Office, Dial Direct, Bennetts etc

You will find very few insurers that dont have either multiple own brands and/ or partnership brands with other big brands.

Flame cloud I am no well informed insurance expert like you are and that is why maybe Churchills and other insurance can get away with putting clever clauses and policy holders don't pick up on it.Once again I will say if they said this at the point of sale, how many people would buy their insurance. Not many I bet.But I will continue to spreads the word so people will put the question to their insurers before it happens . Ps do you sell insurance by any chance?

A lot of people will buy it - there is little choice.

You need to go to at least mid net worth if not high net worth to get better cover, and the majority of people buy on price these days.

I never entered my head to ask about matching units. I just expect to have a kitchen made to to be how it was before, at the very least. This is why i pay for a new for old policy.
