Opening more than 1 cmd.exe window

Hi I'm new to Windows 8 and thus far have only managed to get to open cmd.exe by typing cmd into the search on the right.

This is fine and has openned a command prompt for me without a problem. I'm running a program which is taking a long time in the window. So far been a few hours but it could easily be days before I discover whether it has been successful.

I now want to run another program also from cmd, but when I do my search again and click the cmd.exe program it just brings up my original cmd rather than opening a new one.

I really want a new command window, as I don't want to have to either wait for the old one to finish nor cancel the old one and then restart it.

Just loaded up a Windows 8 VM and I was able to load multiple cmd windows in Desktop mode by using the run command (Windows Key + R)

If you hold down shift when clicking on 'command prompt' it will open a new window. The same trick works for programs pinned to the taskbar.
