trust fund

Need some advice please. When my father in law died about 20 years ago there was talk of money being put into trust funds for all his grand kids which they would receive once they were 21. A year later and my mother in law died too and my husband and I split. Divorced a couple of years later. We never had any contact from him after that, he walked out of my daughter's life and she never saw him again. Recently I found out that he had died this year. As my daughter is 22 this year it got me thinking about her trust fund, but as I've had no contact with my ex or his family in over 20 years I have no idea how to find out if this existed. Can anyone help? (We live in Scotland in case that makes a difference)

I'd start by buying copies of their wills and seeing what was said in them.0
