Contacting the vendors Solictor for update.

Long story about this. I went to view a house last november, the moment we had looked at the hoyuse we knew it was the one for us to make are own and start our family there, i made an offer on the house the next day, it took to the first week of jan, to get the offer accepted, since then i have had my mortgage in place since middle of feb and paid my fees towards, spoke with my solictor and i signed my half of the contract, and paid the deposit on 4/12 and had a date of 4/26 for my completion date, but the 2 days before completition date i recieved a letter, stating from my solictor that my bank needed to get a copy of the 10 year structure warranty before they would release the funds, i have been in contract with my solictor and he stated the deeds to the house and the warranty were lost somewhere and he had got a copy of deeds but he was unable to find anything for it, i then started to make my own inquiries and was able to find out zurich had insured the structure at the beginning, they would not speak with me or my solictor about it, but confirm they were insurance qroup for the house,

See info below this is the email my solictor recieved from zurich when he enquired about it

ZN 12 05 01604 012 PLOT 12 ABBEYVIEW
I can confirm that we have a PLOT 12 Abbeyview registered to B. & D.
CONSTRUCTION LTD and that we issued our Insurance Certificate on 15/02/06.

PLEASE NOTE
We have not been notified by the administrator that they have been
appointed and unfortunately if the property is being sold for the 1st time
and is being sold by the administrator and not B & D Construction Ltd then
our terms have been breached and the warranty is invalid and no cover
exists and the property should not be advertised as having the benefit of a
Zurich structural warranty..
We cannot advise further as we need the administrator to contact us.

that was 2 weeks ago, there has been no more updates to this, i have now found who the solictor is dealing with it on the vendors end, should I contact him for an update or is this a no no. I feel like they are dragging every thing out on this, getting married in 3 weeks and i have a week off after it i had planned to fix and decorate the house, but not sure what i can do, any suggestions

You could try, I tried out of frustration and my solicitor told me that "it's a conflict of interest" in contacting the other solicitor. I don't thin you will get a response if you even tried..

As you have your own solicitor, the seller's solicitor is not professionally allowed to deal with you direct. You will only get referred back to your own solicitor, so you might as well continue going direct to your own solicitor (and avoid the inevitable delay if you contact the seller's).
