laptop/netbook/chromebook.. which one??

Hi everyone. Can i ask for your help. i am getting slightly boggyeyed and confused and dont know which way to go.
This is my criteria:
lightweight/portable.
wifi/3g connection
will be used for internet/email/shopping but notbanking.
basic business accounts/spreadsheet.
occasional printing.
used as a back up when main laptop is being used.
i am going to be spending a lot of time away from home, so just need something that i can use to keepupto date with stuff at home.
budget 250-300.
was looking originally at a chromebook, but now i'm not sure.
Help!!!

Nexus 10, If you want 3G you are going to need an iPad.

hmmm. didnt really want a tablet tbh. i know they are light etc but that is a heck of a lot of money for a tablet that is only meant for light usage/back up to main laptop.

Would have suggested a Netbook such as this one for £134 if just meant for a backup.
This for £154 if long battery life is essential.
But maybe the screen will be too small for Spreadsheet work.
    You tell us.

Next step up is something like this ASUS 1225B for £220. Though it's hardly the latest release.

If you want 3G you are going to need an iPad.

Or if you have a smartphone, just tether it wirelessly and don't go to the added and unnecessary expense of a second 3G account.

For 3G, dongles costs as little as £10.

excuse me for being thick but tethering wirelessly from the phone-is that where you would use the incoming and outgoing settings when you set up the internet connection on the laptop?

Do you need an optical drive? If so, a netbook can be ruled out.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Unless you already have a suitable Smartphone and a suitable data plan with it, don't waste too much time over this suggestion.

Can imagine that it would be annoying to swap SIMs when you wanted to use your mobile telephone as a modem...or a wireless router if it has the capability.

    What phone do you have?
