yes
i am an ot and have written supporting letters for clients who have claimed successfully( usually based on assessments or regular sessions with the person). the letters should be factual and professional and state how your disability affects your functioning.0 -
What Wolfe said!

In fact, they are brilliant pieces of evidence. DM's love them because it makes their job easy. If you have one, enclose a copy in your claim/renewal/supersession.0 -

When I applied for DLA ( I have RA)- my OT gave me a letter of support to put in with my claim. It basically just said what my problem was , how it affected my life and what adjustments/aids I had to make. I asked my doc to fill in the section from someone who knows you well. All he put there was pain/mobility!!! The DWP wrote to my consultant for a report and when they got that back they said it did not have very much info - basically just unknown in a lot of places - so I though I would be turned down. But I was awarded the Lower rate care - I was delighted thought I was entitled to more but glad I got that without a fight. Not sure if letter from OT had anything to do with it though - although it may well have had.MFW start figures - August 2010 - 65,303 O/P Aug 280 Sept 499 Oct 499 Nov 499 Dec 499 Jan 6205 Feb 444 March 444 April 444 May444 June444 July444

Perhaps the advice given by the cab adviser fell a little short of professional.Ensure you consult one of the many exellent guides that are available online, take your time and provide your own evidence and submission, articulate it clearly and well, providing supporting verification if it's available and appropriate.....you may well discover that you don't get "turned down" and it's most definetly not a "waste of time".Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
I would say send the OT reports (but photocopy them). I got mine and they never contacted my GP even, they just took what was on the form and sent a med examiner out.The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10
