Dishwasher marking crockery.

Hi, many of my white plates are getting grey marks on them, like a web like stain on the glaze when they been in the dishwasher??
The plates are quite new, it doesn't affect any cups or mugs. Nothing is rubbing against them either.
Not sure if it's because the plates are poor quality? (Ikea) or the tablets are causing it (Quantam).
Anyone else had this??

Most likely a combination of cheap quality dishes, the harsh abrasive action of the water jets and high water temperature. There was a thread on here recently about scratch marks on glasses washed in a dishwasher. I think the conclusion was not to put glasses in the dishwaser if you wanted to avoid the scratch marks. Obviously you want to be able to put the dishes in the Dishwasher, so perhaps try a lower temperature.
Finish is recommended by most of the major dishwasher manufacturers so you'd think that the detergent wouldn't be causing it.
Have you tried running an empty cleaning cycle as per the manual? If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -
Sounds like it could be a Starch deposit,
1/ Is the machine used in a Hard water area ?
2/ Do you use Granular Salt in provided dispenser
3/ Do you pre scrape most of the soiling off B4 loading Dishwasher.
If the soiling level is high inside machine you will get a slow but gradual build up on large dinner plates etc, feels rough on surfaces or has a milk like deposit .
Hope this helps ? :beer:There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times:A UK Resident :A0 -
I run the machine on an empty cycle and we live in hard water area and use granular salt.
Not sure how well we scrape though so will make sure we do that.
I haven't noticed any roughness though.
Thanks for your help;)0 -

Your welcome, please forgive me for saying the obvious but sometimes it helps.
If the jet assemblies block with food debris or stones etc this can also cause problems, hope you get it sorted soon :beer:There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times:A UK Resident :A0
